Sentosa.

Easter weekend is here! Fantastic! So time to relax and enjoy the sun!
We decided to head to the Universal Studios Singapore, but to our disappointment by the time we got to the ticket counter, the tickets for the day were all sold out. That didn't damper our mood, we decided to get the Sentosa Express and explore the island in general. And it turned out to be a fun day!

Looking at Sentosa today, it's hard to imagine the island was once a fishing village known as Pulau Blakang Mati. It later became a British military fortress until 1967 and was handed back to the newly independent Singapore Government. In 1968, the Government decided to develop the island into a holiday resort for local visitors and tourists. The public was invited to suggest names for the island and "Sentosa" – meaning peace & tranquillity in Malay - was eventually chosen for the island resort.

Having Zacharias and Lucas with us, Corinne & Andy's twin sons, it was clear that the day wouldn't be just relaxing on the beach. First stop was the Luge. Basically a go-kart ride, where you go down the hill on track, fun-filled gravity ride!

Back to the top on chair lift and then race down again!

After nice lunch on the beach bar, we decided to go wandering along the white sand beach and see what else was going on...

Seriously thinking of having my Singers leaving do at the WaveHouse and hiring out the surfing machine for private party!!!

Decided to go for one more ride before heading back home. MegaZip doesn't sound too scary, does it?
Corinne, Matt, myself and Andy
Zacharias and Lucas at front. All ready to have flight of our life!

MegaZip turned out to be pure adrenaline rush, and no surprise the kids where slightly worried to begin with, and by the time we got them to believe that this is nothing... Corinne and myself started to think that this is not good idea...

First you climb to awfully tall tower, then you hook yourself to a cable runner, that is attached to a 450m long cable that goes over the rainforest, over the beach, all the way to the little island front of the beach!

It turned out to be so much fun!!! (And the kids wanted to do it again....)

Needed to have calming drink afterwards at the Cafe del Mar...

But it was time to finish the day with proper meal with Corinne's mother and family. Big crab dinner in Bishan.
